New Kafka covers from Pantheon

I love these new Kafka covers by Pantheon art director Peter Mendelsund, which are  designed to “let some of the sunlight back in” to the novels, illuminating Kafka’s humour as well as his horror. Kafka’s work is often packaged in an aggressively alienating way, as if to warn off readers, or intimidate them: these brightly coloured designs, with a typeface based on Kafka’s own handwriting, will welcome new readers into Kafka’s dark but oddly charming world.
